21 DAY FOCUS FAST

January 7 - January 27, 2020

Every year, our church sets aside a special time of fasting and prayer with one goal in mind; to draw closer to God.  Fasting, one of the most powerful spiritual disciplines,  allows us to abstain from certain foods and pleasures in order to focus on a period of spiritual growth.

Spiritual growth through fasting requires a solid commitment.  Arranging special time each day with God is absolutely crucial in attaining intimate communion with the Father.  We are devoting ourselves to seeking God’s face, even (and especially) during those times in which we might feel weak, vulnerable, or irritable.  We will read His Word and meditate on Him throughout our day, sing praises to Him and center our total being on Him;  our mind, our attitudes, our actions, our motives, desires, and words.  By doing so, we are creating a space for God to fill and transform our lives from the inside out and to show forth His strength and power.

However, be aware that Satan will do everything he can to pull us away from anything that encourages us to seek God and grow in our faith.  He will try everything from making you focus on all the foods you can’t have to making you extremely irritable to bringing up trouble with your friends and family or at work.  To have victory against such attacks; make prayer your shield and KEEP DOING WHAT HONORS GOD.

As a church, we are committing to pray 3 times a day.  Our collective time is 5:37am, 12:37pm and 6:37pm.   If those times don’t work for you, no worries.  Just commit to the times that work best for your schedule.

We will also gather for corporate prayer on Wednesday, January 8th and Wednesday, January 15th at 6:37pm at our Main Campus.

A renewed closeness with God and a greater sensitivity to spiritual things are usually the results of a fast.  Do not be disappointed if you do not have a “mountaintop experience,”  as some do. Many people who have successfully completed fasts tell of feeling a nearness to God that they have never before known, but others who have honestly sought His face report no particular outward results at all.   We believe that God will honor our commitment.
